Please add this to the list of “Things Court Did So We Don’t Have To”. Not that anyone is going to make you read a book, but there was enough curiosity I felt I should take one for the team. I saw this posted on Albany Jane’s fb page right before Mother’s Day and it was so ridiculous (and free from Amazon) so I had to see what it was all about.
Okay so the curiosity was me and like two other people. That’s enough for me to read 96 pages of a book that KFC put out for Mother’s Day. (You’re scratching your head at that one too, aren’t you?)
When Lady Madeline Parker runs away from Parker Manor and a loveless betrothal, she finally feels like she is in control of her life. But what happens when she realizes she can’t control how she feels? When she finds herself swept into the arms of Harland, a handsome sailor with a mysterious past, Madeline realizes she must choose between a life of order and a man of passion. Can love overcome lies? What happens in the embrace of destiny, on the Tender Wings of Desire?
I don’t even know what to say about this book. I think its just what you might expect from KFC trying to put out a romance novel written by Colonel Sanders for Mother’s Day.
My cousin’s wife, an English teacher, couldn’t get more than a third of the way through it due to the editing it needed. I’m not as particular about the editing of books as long as I can get through them so I just laughed at the cheesiness of it. My ultimate summary of the book to my SIL is “I read it in less than an hour. It was cheesy and not nearly spicy enough. Would recommend as 3rd to last resort”
It did kick off an excellent exchange of bad puns between my cousin’s wife and I. BUT! Go read the reviews on Amazon. They are worth the time.
If you want to see what it’s all about it’s still free on Amazon. Have at it. Is this something you’d read? Why or why not?
