GenWar once told me that when things are particularly dull, depressing, or challenging he focuses on upcoming events he knows will cheer him up or otherwise bring him enjoyment.
I’m in one of those particularly challenging times due to office work obligations. Frankly, I’m quite sure I’d be drowning if I wasn’t such a good swimmer.
There are a few things coming up in the next few weeks which I am really looking forward to though and it’s helpful to think about those instead of thinking about pulling my hair out. Land is in sight!
There’s lots about fall that I look forward to in general, pretty leaves, fall cooking smells and temperatures being cool enough to bake, pie, breaking out the sweaters and boots, etc. I’m talking about bigger things or events. In no particular order of importance, here’s three BIG things I’m looking forward to in the coming weeks:
- BatGirl coming to visit! There might be shenanigans, there might not be, but I know with her visit comes good food to try, drinks to be indulged in, and lots of laughs.
- November 6th. Between now and November 6th I’m presenting 5 more times for work. I don’t mind presenting, but it’s a smidge daunting to think that there are 5 more to finish writing and do between now and then. It also marks the end of my currently scheduled travel for work for awhile and it’ll be nice to get back to some semblance of normal.
- Thanksgiving. We’ve invited Frank’s family to join us this year and I’m excited to host them along with my family. I think we’ve tallied it up to be 17 have been invited. I’m not sure how many are coming but I promise there will be enough food and more importantly, enough pie for everyone.
Bonus: I’m looking forward to November 11th because it’s a midweek day off from work and I don’t have to be at the pool! I don’t know what I’ll do yet, but I have a feeling it’ll be something requiring minimal brain power and energy.
There’s a lot to get done between now and those days, but I can do it. I’m also hoping to see some of your smiling faces, maybe share some food and laughs between now and then. It’s what helps power me through long weeks.
What are you looking forward to in the coming weeks? What would you do with a random day off from both jobs?
