Thursday Three – Little things I’ve changed so far this year that I feel good about

Fotor_142073501293975Well hello there. I wrote the date on a check for a craft show today and know that we’re officially a week into 2015. I didn’t even have to cross out 4 of 2014 or write a 5 over it. Go me! It’s been a long few days, so I wanted to check and tell you about three small changes I’ve made so far in 2015 that I feel really good having made.

They’re seriously little. Much like the time I opted to brush my teeth in the shower one morning while my conditioner did it’s thing. That little change was such a small thing but it seemed to be the impetus to get me out of a major rut. I still don’t know how that worked, but it did and I’m forever thankful I made that change (and the subsequent changes I made after that)

It seems that small changes add up to big things sometimes. I don’t know that these changes will, but right now I’m feeling good about them.

  1. Warm/Hot lemon water before coffee.  Sometimes I drink it sitting in a favorite chair, all wrapped in a blanket Momma made us for Christmas before I get in the shower. Other times I drink it at my desk before venturing out to the kitchen for coffee. Either way, it’s a nice change. I have no idea why it’s nice, but it is.
  2. A scoop of super crunchy peanut butter in my apple cinnamon oatmeal. Peanut butter is one of my favorite foods and the little bit of deliciousness and texture with the oatmeal is a lovey treat to start my day.
  3. I cleaned off my desk at work. I’m what you could call a “clutter worker”. I literally get more done with some clutter around me. That said, I like an organized clutter and my desk had gotten out of control. It’s better now.

I still am working at getting 120 oz of water a day, putting together blog posts ahead of time, doing a little yoga every day (it in the shower, on the floor by my desk, a class, or just some while I’m watching Netflix) and any number of things I want to do better this year, but those little things are a good start.

  1. 120 ounces of water a day? WOW – – I did a challenge where I did 100 ounces a day for 30 days… And there were some days that it was a struggle to get to 100.
    However, I can tell you – what helped me – was finding the right water bottle to drink from. I used to have one with a straw, but that seemed to limit how much I was really drinking – oddly enough, But then, I got one of those sport cups, with the guzzling flip cap.. and that changed the game of water intake. Try different styles of bottle. Also: Lemon juice, just a splash, in plain water – helps give a little flavor. I also have heard amazing thing about getting the infuser water bottles, that allow you to put herbs, sliced veggies and fruit that give you more nutrients and such.

    And a clean desk makes me feel better ALL THE TIME!

    I haven’t made any small changes yet, but, there’s still time. I’m still thinking about what I hope to accomplish this year. I am, however, about to clean off my desk since I’m the only one in the office today 🙂 Really need to try that hot lemon water thing, everyone’s always talking about how good it is for the body.
