I looked at the calendar last week and realized that July is right around the corner and the year will be half over. For the second half of the year, I’ll be trying something new. (Go figure. I’m always trying something new. It’s good to keep learning.) I invite you to join me for the challenge of the month.
Lately, I’ve been getting more into yoga. Not so much the mental part, but the flexibility and the strength aspect of it. (I constantly have to remind myself that I’m there for my reasons not hers or his or hers over there.) Some of those poses are seriously challenging and it’s sort of a high to get into them. Getting out of them again can be a challenge too, but I’m working on being more graceful.
So as I mentioned the other day, I’m challenging YOU! Yes you over there hiding in the corner, to join me for the month of July to do Yoga Everyday. I’m not going to be the yoga police to check up on you or even ask if you did (unless you want me to), but if you’d like to join me, I challenge you to do at least 10 minutes of yoga a day. You can do more if you’d like of course! If you’d like to check in, use #julyoga on Twitter, Instagram etc so I can find it.
I know, I know. We don’t all work at gyms, have yoga weekly at your office, have yoga studios near by to just stop into or your very own yogi at your disposal like me, but there are lots of resources. Check out your local cable OnDemand (or the like) or the internet, I’ve found lots of free videos through both. Here’s just three of what I’ve found:
- YouTube. There’s lots and I even searched some out for you. This Adriene seems to be quite popular.
- Grokker and am checking it out. So far it has cooking videos, yoga, and other fitness videos.
- Do Yoga With Me has all sorts of classes to check out too.
Attend a class, do some chair yoga at your desk, do sun salutations for 10 min in the morning before you shower! Whatever it is you’d like to do. If you’d like to involve the kids? Bonus. Here’s some kiddo friendly yoga videos.
So that’s the challenge. Yoga every day. You in?
You should make sure you’re okay to do yoga before you start doing it. If it hurts? Don’t do it. If you’d like to write a post about why you’re joining this challenge, what yoga is for you, what you’ve learned through yoga or any other yoga related topic please feel free to contact me. Max 300ish words a post. They can be emailed to me at bakinginmybathingsuit[at]gmail[dot]com with YOGA POST or something like it in the title so I don’t miss it. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Let’s do this.
