Lovely weekends make for the hardest Mondays.

My weekend? Delightful. It was tough to get out of bed today especially since I was initially convinced it was still Sunday. It was a slow morning.

Saturday had some rough moments at my grandparents house while I sifted through pottery, furniture and memories. I would have taken each and every piece offered, but I simply don’t have the room – even with the giant Hoosier cabinet that now resides in our kitchen.

Forgive the things that had to go IN the Hoosier cabinet

(Can I tell you how heavy that sucker was to get up the stairs?)

I feel incredibly lucky that my family passed these pieces down to us and there are a few more pieces on their way.

Sue joined Frank and I for grilled food and macaroni salad on the deck. I made the salad in one of Nanny’s pottery bowls that has held countless salads and fed countless people.

It felt right.

Sunday brought Momma, my G-d Mom, my bro and his doggie over for lunch. It was just an easy lunch of grilled chicken on make your own salad ending in homemade cherry chocolate chip ice cream, but it was a really nice day of chatting, playing and laid back time.

I was nervous about what Momma (and others) would think about the floors and the paint etc, but she seemed to love them. Why am I worried? Mostly because I don’t want people to think they’re ugly which is silly because I love all of our colors, Frank doesn’t hate them and we’re the ones that live with them.

The rest of the day found me tackling my to-do list and taking a nap before grocery shopping, and checking in on those crazy Dugger kids. Jill got married you know…

It was a lovely low key weekend which is about as close to relaxing as I get.
