This weekend by the numbers

Right to the point? We spent the holiday weekend painting. Well first we had to eat dinner, organize supplies, prep and repair walls, remove trim, fill nail holes in trim, and prime…then we got down to painting.

My motley crew consisted of my Uncle Dex, Daddy-O, that guy I married and myself. The skills we had ranged from actual professional to just learning.

We’re incredibly lucky that Uncle Dex and Daddy-O were and are willing and able to help us turn this house into our home.  I’m so very thankful for the  Dirty Dexters (as they call themselves)

I’ll get some more photos, but it was a pretty productive weekend if I do say so myself.

Cheeseburgers consumed: 10
Pounds of deli meat and cheese:4

Gallons of paint used (so far): 25
Rooms to finish: 2*
Nail holes filled: 1 billion
Coughing jags from laughing: 12+
Hours spent painting: 25
Trips to Lowe’s and/or Target: 7
Mishaps along the way: Not as many as there could have been!
Hugs from D’Lovely on Monday after I survived the other part of the weekend: 500 in 3 hours.

Next weekend we’re supposed to put in floors and finish painting. Here’s to hoping!

How was your weekend?

*Due to several mitigating factors, both living rooms need to be finished and the halls need a second coat of paint.

  1. 🙂 Painting can be fun, and stressful. When we bought our home, we tried to paint all necessary rooms in one day. And, well, thank the Gods we had an entire night to do a couple coats of paint, and the fans sure helped things to dry faster! But, the downstairs office… in the right light.. you can still kind of see the DARK RED paint that once was… Maybe repaint it again.. it’s only been a YEAR!
