The internet is full of information. While it’s not all good or even reliable, there’s a plethora of it out there and it seems that more is being added every day.
While my googlefu is strong and I use the internet what seems like hourly to look something up, sometimes it’s a big time suck. That doesn’t mean that time sucks can’t be informational though! There’s Listverse (and I love that!) Wikipedia, and other sites that are intended for informational purposes. Some even cross over and are entertaining too.
Here are a few I’ve been reading lately:
Neatorama: Actually facebook recommended this one to me when I liked another page so I clicked over. I was not dissapointed. With lists like 15 Facts You Might Not Know about Murder, She Wrote. It’s more light hearted than Listverse and others, but I’ve enjoyed it so far. (And Corrupted Coloring Book Pages was fun too.)
I F*ucking Love Science: They tout themselves as “The Lighter Side of Science”. Recently I read The Evolution of Herbivory in Land Vertebrates which might not be your cup of tea, but I find evolution fascinating so it was interesting to me. I like that it makes science accessible. I think more people would be interested in STEM stuff if it was more easily understood.
The Atlantic: I stumbled upon this one a few weeks ago and it’s been an interesting read. It gets into some pretty heave stuff, like the Resegregation in the American South and The Confidence Gap and right now it feels like what I need to get the brain back in gear. They also published The Private Lives of Public Bathrooms too which I found interesting.
What website have you found to waste some time/educate yourself with lately?
