Coffee date 13

Coffee date 13 on the 13th! What a lovely sense of symmetry there! I swear one of these days I’ll get my tush in gear and to a video like Alissa, but until then, you just get my words.

Why hello there! I’m quite flipping excited that Friday is here. Are you? How are you? What’s in your mug/cup today? I wasn’t feeling Kahlua today so I went with coconut mocha with hot chocolate. It’s delicious. I wouldn’t steer you wrong!

20130913_102710Although typically it means that I get a break, not this weekend. I’m teaching tomorrow and then have to show the apartment that’s for rent upstairs. Sunday is this Wounded Warrior Run and then brunch.

Maybe a nap.  That would be delightful.

What do you have planned for the weekend? Anything fun?

So I was reading some articles the other night when I was having trouble sleeping about gluten intolerance and weight gain. A lot of the symptoms of gluten intolerance apply to me and with my other allergies, it wouldn’t necessarily be a stretch that I have issues with that protein too.  I’m not saying I eat perfectly, but with recent weight gain, I have to consider that something else is going on.  I don’t eat like a total jerk and I’m fairly active so I’m looking at my options.

Frank being the super awesome guy I married said he’s on board with whatever changes I want to make as long as it’s not eating just salad. He doesn’t like leaves. I sent him this link of recipes to start with and we’ll see how it goes.

What can it hurt to greatly reduce or even eliminate it from my foods? I’ve read and heard of too many people doing so and feeling great afterwards to discount it without giving it a good shot. I figure that if after 30 days I see no change then I’ll figure something else out.

I have to run. I hope you have a great day and an awesome weekend.

Today in class my professor said that many people may be more prone to having an intolerance to gluten nowadays due to modern farming and hybrid selective breeding (if i may) with wheat. The farmers are producing these wheats with 300 percent more gluten than they would “normally” have. Gluten makes foods more fluffier, and taste better. yet people are taking excessive amounts which is harming the body. There are approximately 60 illnesses that point to gluten as the cause. My professor’s resource was Dr. Mark Hymen. He has a book particularly on just this topic (Gluten).
