Yesterday Frank and I did our grocery shopping for the week. There’s nothing exciting or blog worthy about that fact, but as we walked through the aisles, Frank was drawn to the Bagel Bites. You’re familiar with them, no? “When you have pizza on a bagel you can have pizza any time?”
I thought so too.
He was hesitant because he didn’t want to feel like he was filling his body with junk food. He seemed like he really wanted them, so I pointed out that we’d eaten pretty reasonably all weekend and he HAD run a half marathon. Also, I’d eat a few if it made him feel better.
The Bagel Bites (pepperoni of course) were tossed into the cart.
At home later, he made them and brought me a few. He had said he didn’t think they tasted the same, but that could be the fact that it had been awhile since he’d had them and wasn’t remembering them in their pizza on a bagel glory. I, having shared them more recently with a babysitting charge, said I would try some and let him know.
Now, they hadn’t been awesome when I had them that night babysitting a few months ago, but then again, I had paired them with some yucky all natural fruit punch that was still sickeningly sweet. It’s possible my taste buds were upset about the juice and hadn’t properly picked up on the Bagel Bites yummy goodness.
I was optimistic that one of the favorite flavors from my younger days would bring me some bright and shiny flavor feelings, but they fell flat. I don’t know if they’ve cut the sodium or use less of something, but it just wasn’t the same.
I could say that my pallet has changed and while it has, I still love many of the foods from my younger years (Ham and Cheese on a bagel for lunch, Swiss Cake Rolls, SSips Ice Tea boxes just to name a few) so I’m more inclined to think that in this instance, it’s the Bagel Bites that have changed.
Do you have a food that has changed over the years and you no longer like?
I received no compensation for mentioning any of the above products. I did relaunch the Court is Crafty shop this morning, let me know what you think.
