Getting icky words out.

I’m incredibly frustrated and upset at the moment. Last night, our landlord showed up unannounced to do some work. Okay, fine, he didn’t need access to our apartment. (Our lease stipulates that he has to notify us in advance. Our apartment needed some tidying and I frankly didn’t want someone there. I went home yesterday with a migraine and had a fever.)

He left us alone until about 10pm when he knocked  on the door to say that he was turning the water off to work on a pipe in the basement, but it should be on in an hour or so. His lady friend said they’d come back up to let us know it was done.  Um, okay? It has to be done now? I filled a couple of water bottles just in case we needed it and Frank got ready for bed.

I stayed up even though I felt like crap and was really tired. I wanted to know it was done and we’d be all set for morning.

Around midnight, there was a knock on the door and it was the landlord again. He said he couldn’t fix it and that the water would be off til morning. Likely noon.

I left a note for Frank and packed a bag. We’re fortunate that we both have shower facilities at our offices, could go to my gym, or reach out to local friends if we needed to, but we shouldn’t have to do any of that. This was totally avoidable. It wasn’t an emergency.

I realize that this isn’t a huge problem in the grand scheme of things. People deal with and have dealt with far worse obstacles in their living conditions, but man I’m pretty pissed about the whole thing. There’s nothing like really not being able to use your bathroom when you wake up. Or because you’re packing a bag after midnight to forget to pack the shirt you wanted to wear to work. This didn’t have to happen like this.

I feel a little better. Thanks for letting me vent. Don’t worry, I’m wearing a shirt. It’s just not the one I wanted. Thank goodness for extra clothes in my car.

Maybe I’m old but if my landlord came knocking at my door anytime after 9 I would be pissed! And not packing a shirt sounds totally like something I would do only I’d be forced to just continue wearing what I had on. Which is usually a men’s XL Cape cod t-shirt. Hope you’re feeling better!

  2. That totally sucks! I hope they fixed it.

I would need to vent about that too!!!
