(Yes, with the Earth blooming so do my allergies, but whatever. A little misery is worth the beauty, right? Sure. Ask me again in 2 weeks when I’ve gone through 2 more boxes of tissues and another bottle of Zyrtec!)
It’s also the time for making plans and letting the sun kiss my face and hair. I always get excited about the spring and summer because days are longer, it’s warmer and there are so many more things to see and do outside.
Take this weekend for instance: I planted dahlias (red and white), freesia (mixed colors), and gladioli (purple). I have planter pots for basil, rosemary, sweet peppers, daisies and a few other things on our porch. Let’s hope I don’t kill it all.
I also raked the mini lawn behind our apartment in hopes that it’ll bring more of the grass back to life. If I have to stay in our apartment for another year, I’m going to find a way to enjoy it – damn it. I have a few more things to plant and lights to hang outside, but I’m excited.
Sure there will be days that my allergies get the best of me and I’m down for the count, but I still look forward to dinners on our porch, trips to the playground, non freezing walks to Dante’s for fro-yo, out door runs, visits with friends and local baseball games.
What are you looking forward to this summer?
