I have three miles left to run before Easter arrives and Lent is over.
3. Not too bad.
What will it look like?
Mile 0 – 1. Feeling fine, I’ve got this.
Mile 1 – 2. Starting to hurt, but I will not give up.
Mile 2 – 3. It hurts like hell, but I can barely breathe but I try to breathe slowly. Every time I’m tempted to stop, I increase the speed…counting down the distance out loud, taking away my choice to give up. Each tenth of a mile announced and getting a little louder each time I speak. I picture the race course in my head approximating where I am at each distance…and then I’m done.
I imagine that’s how tomorrow will go as I finish my 40 miles for Lent.
