Well the fashion g-ds and my wallet g-ds are in cahoots again. This happens every so often (although lately it’s more than my eyes care to admit) that my wallet g-d will put in a call to the fashion g-ds and they’ll work together to keep me so horrified by the clothing choices that I just stay out of the stores entirely.
(Not that I need to buy clothes, but that’s not the point.)
Between the metal rivets in everything, the garish colors that seem to have exploded over everything and the constant feeling that they found some well maintained warehouse or time capsule from the 80s/90s of fug and opened the doors, I just can’t get behind anything I’ve seen in the stores lately.
I can’t bring myself to take photos to share with you because well, then it’s on my camera. Just go to Target or wherever you like to shop and you can see for yourself.
Even though Frank often defers to me regarding fashion choices, he, too, is getting more upset by the choices. Just look at this face!
I think this should be called Hipster Homer Simpson.
Unrelated but the Whoa part, I’m giving up meat for the Lenten Season. Last year I gave up Peanut Butter, peanut butter products (and ended up extending it to nut butter in general if I recall) and Lazy and while it could have gone better with the Lazy part, I managed the Peanut Butter.
I’m still not a practicing Catholic, but I like the idea of Lent and doing something to better myself.
So yeah, this year I’m giving up Meat (eggs and dairy are still ok) and I’m going to add the following:
- Run 40 miles (or elliptical if needed, sometimes getting a treadmill is damn near impossible.)
- Do 40 nice things (I saw this on a blog somewhere, if it’s yours let me know. I can’t flippin’ remember now.)
- Finish 40 projects (little, but work, blog, crafting, doesn’t matter what projects, just have to finish 40 of them)
- And to tie it back in to the above WTF, no frivolous shopping. Supplies, gifts for others and replacements only.
Do you give up something for Lent? Are you giving up Lent for Lent? Do you care to join me in part of this?
