Such is life, I suppose.
(I did get a lot of gift projects done and photo props and as soon as they’re given I’ll be sure to share them too.)
Anyway. As luck would have it, the last day of September was a cool and sort of dreary day. Just the kind of day to spend with a pattern and some fabric.
I rescued this fabric from Mehmere’s house before they could throw it away. It’s really a great piece! dark brown with white flowers with blue centers. I really love it.
I picked up a pattern the other day that I liked and claimed to be a 1 hour pattern, but 1 hour? Not so much. I’m rusty, sure, but not that rusty.
Spending the day sewing reminded me of some really nice days spent with Mehmere as a kid (and some ridiculous time spent in costume lab in college, but I digress). Laying out the fabric, pinning, adjusting for size and preference, cutting, repinning, seaming, ironing, more sewing, seam ripping, repinning, ironing, trying on, and final touches.
All that work. It makes me smile remembering the time with her.
Time aside and a few mistakes I can see, I’m incredibly pleased with the results…And I know Mehmere would be thrilled with them too. I’ll be doing some more and will share them as I do.
It’s not perfect, but it was the perfect way to spend today. Thanks Voice of Reason!
I haven’t picked a challenge for October. If you’d like to suggest one, here’s where to do it or you can leave a comment below. Nothing too complicated. October is shaping up to be a doozie!
***The pattern I used is from Simplicity, but they didn’t give it to me, I paid for it myself. If they’d like to send me something to try, I’d be happy to do so. ***
