I’ve been digitally crafting!

recipie art muffin 4x6bI’ve been known to be crafty and creative, but it’s not a huge secret that my drawing skills are pretty limited to stick figures and finger painting. (Although I consider myself to be quite good at both.) I can paint with a paint brush too, but my painting skills include flat walls and paint by numbers.  I’m a decent crafter, can take decent photos  and have been known to do some fun things with digital photo editing.

Art to put on a wall? Not so much. Also, my handwriting leaves much to be desired.

I’ve recently rediscovered my love of (and abilities in) MS Publisher though.  (Shh. Yes, I’ve heard there are better options. I like this one. ) You don’t have to have nice handwriting when there are a billion fonts to choose from, right?

I was looking for something fun to give the lovely ladies who showered me with their love and was stumped. I didn’t just want to buy something and didn’t have time to crochet for each of them. My soap making skills are ok, but that takes a lot of time and isn’t all that relaxing to do.

I found the perfect idea when flipping through some Apartment Therapy posts and saw something like this on a wall in one of the pictures. I would link to the specific one, but holy crap do they update often.

Suffice it to say I was inspired.

I took the recipe for muffins that I posted here and played with it in a 4×6 base, printed them out and framed them for my friends. I then did a similar one for my sister in law for her new kitchen in an 8×10 print.

I like them as did others. Frank’s sister said something about selling them. For now I’ll refrain and just print them off and hand them out when I see fit.
