Voice of Reason is back today! Last time she was with us, she shared part of her weight loss journey and today she shares her next step. Literally!
I got the shoes …. Now what?
As I have mentioned before, I am not one to purposely exercise. I generally don’t find enjoyment in sweating my ass off in a gym. However, the one thing that I have learned in re-joining Weight Watchers, I really need to make some changes if I hope to lose this weight and keep it off.
I took a step forward in joining the world of exercising. I actually bought a pair of good sneakers. (Not the cheap … just for show … but comfortable sneakers)…. a pair of sneakers that are designed to be used in such a manner. Heck, I even used one of my precious gift certificates that I received as a present! If you know me at all… then you know that is a big deal. I tend to squirrel those away. 🙂
So, now here I am … a great pair of sneakers… and not sure what to do. With money being tight (oh and the abhorrence that I have for gyms), I do not want to get a membership to a facility.
BakingSuit approached her friends a few weeks ago to see if anyone wanted to join her in participating in the upcoming 5k run. I didn’t sign up. However, the thought stuck in my head. Running … (well, let’s be honest)… a jogger. It is something that I can do any day… anywhere… it doesn’t cost a lot of money. It’s just a matter of will power.
So, what do I do now? I am going to start running. I am going to try the popular training method “Couch to 5K”. I’m sure you have heard of it. Who knows… perhaps I will actually stick with this… hell, I might even come to believe that the runner’s high does actually exist. Who knows… perhaps some day I will actually sign up to participate in such 5k events with my good friend.
Weight update: As of my last weight in, I am now at 173.8 lbs. I’ve lost a total of 22.2 lbs.
Please join me in congratulating Voice of Reason in her amazing weight loss and thank her for sharing with us today. As for the “runner’s high” even when I was running on a regular basis I didn’t hit it. I wish her luck in finding it, though…and I’m going to try again.
