Two things about today

kindness squareJust popping in quickly to say hello and to let you know two things about today:

  1. It is Lance’s birthday. It’s a day worth celebrating.
  2. It is World Kindness Day.

I find this to be interesting because Lance for all of his jerkface moments (and if you knew him, you knew them to be plentiful!) he showed me immense kindness when other people who loved me didn’t. I will never forget that he did and am forever thankful for it. I strive to pass the kindness he (and others) showed me along to others in hopes that they too will pass it along.

You know, pass it along. Pay it forward. I figure the world would be a much better place if everyone tried a little more to be kind.

I try to do something kind for someone every day, but if you need some ideas today (or any day) here are some ideas for random acts of kindness. Hold doors for others. Buy the homeless person a cup of coffee. Be polite to someone. (That one should go without saying, but you’d be surprised!) Compliment someone sincerely. Send a note in the mail, box up your unused books. There’s so much you can do to be kind…

If nothing else, share a smile. They don’t cost you anything and it might be the nicest interaction someone’s had all day. (Sad as that may seem, it might be true. There’s so much negativity out there!)

(And if you’re not reading this on 11/13? Do something nice for someone whenever you read it. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture. Just share a little kindness with the world.)
